Terramin Australia Limited

An Australian based company with its main assets and interests in South Australia and Algeria.

Terramin is an Australian company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: TZN).

The company is an experienced miner having undertaken a number of projects (including the Angas Zinc Mining project at Strathalbyn) since the company’s listing in 2003.

With growing concern regarding the potential impacts of mining on communities and the environment, Terramin has devised a mining philosophy aimed at developing world’s best practice in sustainable mining.

We call it “Minimal Impact Mining”.

This method of mining has been proposed for Terramin’s latest project, the Bird in Hand Gold Mine located near Woodside in the Adelaide Hills.

The key principles of Minimal Impact Mining are:

  • Small mine footprint

  • Minimal environmental impacts

  • Low noise, dust, and carbon emissions

  • Sympathetic to the local visual aesthetic with the aim of concealing mine operations

  • Leaving the site in better condition than we found it

  • Very high standards of safety for all

  • High levels of community consultation

The key test of this method is “would we be happy to live next door to this mine?”

The method is designed for mining opportunities where high value mineral assets are found near to existing communities and traditional mining methods would be totally unacceptable.

Our commitment to the people of Woodside is - apart from the benefits to the community, you will hardly know it’s there.

Terramin’s record as a good corporate citizen has been established locally – and we invite the people of Woodside to contact members of the nearby Strathalbyn community for their opinion.
